How does eBMS/Mobile interface with Niagara?

The iPhone connects to the Web Service on a Niagara station. In addition to the iPhone app, the eBMS/Mobile software includes a Niagara module. The iPhone app makes requests for data (for Points, Histories, Alarms, Schedules etc.) to the Niagara module and when the data is returned it is displayed in the app. The app requires you to enter the IP Address and HTTP Port into a settings menu.

What will I need to install?

You will need a Tridium JACE and the appropriate module license.

How are graphics displayed in the app?

The app is capable of displaying any graphic created on the Niagara station. To view all PX views created on the Niagara station, the user must change the users profile to a HX profile. This is because PX graphics are based on Java technology, which is not supported on the iPad/iPhone or iPod Touch operating systems.

Can I adjust points in the app?

Yes, values on a graphic can be set through the toolbar in the iPad app and through the adjustments menu on the iPhone. If a point has a corresponding set action then you can adjust the value.

Does eBMS/Mobile work with the Niagara R2 system?

The eBMS/Mobile iPhone app is built in AX, so you wouldn't be able to connect directly to an R2 system. The only option here would be an AX station importing the Points, Histories, Alarms and Schedules from R2 using either BACnet or oBix. The R2 system would need to be the 527 version for writing via BACnet to work. Depending on the present version level of the site there could also be an issue as R2 does not like mixed versions.

Are their any iPhone settings I need to change for the app to work?

Yes, you need to ensure both Cookies and JavaScript are enabled through the Safari settings on your iPhone or iPad.

Can I set permissions in eBMS/Mobile?

Yes, eBMS/Mobile observes any permissions set in the Station’s User Service and Category Service. This way you can offer different users access to only the points they are interested in. A user with read only access will not be able to adjust points.

Is there an annual fee?

No, there is no annual fee it is a one-off payment for life. All prices can be found on our Online Store.

Can I use my existing graphics?

Yes for standard views, existing graphics can be viewed on the app through the user being setup as a HX profile.

On User Views you cannot use your existing graphics but you have access to a full range of graphical widgets you can assign to a point on the Niagara station.

How long does it take to install?

On average it takes no longer than 15 minutes, please refer to our installation guide on the Downloads section of our website.
